Tagaris for charities
A self-hosted register for the kit a charity actually has: donated, bought, mixed, and shared between staff and volunteers. Free for one administrator, with no asset limit.
Charity IT is rarely a matching fleet. It is a batch of donated laptops of three makes, a few purchased machines, phones on loan to outreach workers, and a printer nobody is sure who owns. The register's job is the same as anywhere: what do we have, where is it, who has it, what did it cost, and what needs attention. Tagaris records all of that on a server the organisation controls, and the free tier covers the whole register for a single administrator.
The jobs it covers
Donated and mixed kit
Any make, any age. Set the manufacturer and Dell, Lenovo and Apple serials are recognised, with a link to the maker's warranty lookup. A supplier field, a purchase price of zero and a custom field for the donor keep the provenance on the record.
Staff and volunteers
People in the register are records, not logins, so volunteers cost nothing to add. Check a laptop or phone out to a person and back in when it returns, with the history kept. See check-out and audits.
Rooms and outreach sites
Locations nest, from a head office down to a room or a community venue. Print QR labels for rooms as well as devices, and a room can be audited by standing in it.
Audits for trustees and funders
The stock-take workflow confirms what is actually there and records the audit on each asset. Built-in reports cover value with depreciation, disposals and assets by location, each with CSV export and print.
Renewals
Software licences and domains sit in the register with their dates. A daily email digest lists what is due, along with warranties expiring and kit past its replacement age.
Export at any time
The whole register exports to CSV, and a full organisation export to JSON covers every record. Both are free, so a funder's question or a change of tool is a download.

Free tier
The full register for one administrator: assets, stock, people, locations, check-out, audits, reports, the renewal digest, QR labels, the iOS app, two-factor authentication and scheduled encrypted backups. No asset limit, no export limit, no trial clock and no card.
Team, when several people need access
Team plans add logins with Admin, Editor and Viewer roles, so an office manager can look things up and a volunteer coordinator can update records without either reaching the settings. They also add Microsoft Entra ID single sign-on and an audit log. Priced by seats in sizes of 5, 10, 25 and 50.
Data stays with the organisation
Tagaris runs on your own server or a small VPS with Docker, about 1 GB of memory, and keeps the register in a PostgreSQL database you own. It sends no telemetry; the one default outbound call is a daily version check that can be switched off. Backups run from inside the app on a schedule, optionally encrypted and copied to S3-compatible storage, and restore is built in. If the person who set it up moves on, the register and its history stay with the charity. The self-hosting page covers what running it involves.
